Mombora’s proposal is simple but transformative: using native Brazilian fruits without artificial colorings, preservatives, or flavors.

Mombora, Brazilian biodiversity, and sustainability

Mombora’s essence is deeply connected to Brazilian biodiversity and sustainability. The company uses natural ingredients from different biomes across Brazil, sourced from small farmers and local communities that adopt sustainable management practices.

“We use fruits such as jabuticaba, cupuaçu, açaí-juçara, and cambuci, and our main principle is to offer a 100% natural product, avoiding the use of artificial colorings, preservatives, or flavors,” says Kazumi Kawasaki Ramos, Operations & R&D Manager/Co-founder of Mombora.

Sustainability is not just a differentiator for the company but a true commitment. By replacing artificial flavors with real fruits, Mombora contributes to forest preservation and economically supports local producers, fostering a regenerative economy.

“The preservation of native vegetation acts as a true ‘lung’ for the planet, as forests play a crucial role in absorbing carbon from the atmosphere. By encouraging these practices, we help offset the carbon emissions of the entire production chain.”

Sustainability and environmental preservation values are also key criteria when selecting suppliers. “There is constant research and development to test new fruits and raw materials, as well as mapping out production chains and producers. Today, our main partner is Instituto Auá, which has been promoting Atlantic Forest ingredients for years.”

Kazumi explains that the research and development team is also continuously testing sustainable packaging materials, such as biodegradable scoops for powdered products, and ways to fully utilize raw materials. The company partners with eureciclo, an organization focused on socio-environmental impact and increasing recycling rates in Brazil, and Eco Local Brasil, which promotes actions to combat marine waste, environmental education, and waste management.

Additionally, Mombora runs a recycling program where customers can return packaging at Casa Mombora in São Paulo and receive discounts and brand giveaways.

Sharing knowledge with consumers

From the very beginning, Mombora has been committed to giving consumers the experience of discovering native Brazilian fruits. “Through our products, we truly aim to raise awareness of these fruits, which are often little known and produced by small farmers.”

The company also shares information about Brazil’s biomes and environmental preservation through its communication channels. “Our marketing actions, both online and offline, highlight the potential of these fruits. In offline actions, we promote reforestation by distributing seeds, for example.”

Social engagement and support for producers

In addition to engaging with consumers, Mombora provides knowledge to native fruit producers, mainly in the Atlantic Forest region, close to its operational area. “We also collaborate on projects that map and diagnose native fruit production chains in the Vale do Paraíba region, introduce native fruits into school meals, and support producers with technological aspects related to fruit processing.”

Another way of fostering social engagement is through the donation of sachets to sports projects.
