Decathlon launches web series “Exploring the Mountains of Brazil”

Decathlon has launched the web series “Exploring the Mountains of Brazil,” which brings together the experiences of Eliseu Frechou, climber and mountaineer; Guta Barbosa, trekking practitioner and outdoor enthusiast; and Caíque Fiali, expedition and camping specialist. Throughout the series, they share tips and knowledge for those who want to practice mountain sports safely and confidently.

The production features six episodes filmed at iconic destinations of Brazilian mountaineering, released weekly on Decathlon’s YouTube and Instagram channels.

The premiere episode, “The Trails of Mountaineering,” introduces the athletes and their journeys. They recall their first experiences in the sport, talk about the physical and psychological challenges of the practice, and share their perspectives on the mountaineering scene in Brazil.

In the second episode, “Climbing Chapada Diamantina,” Eliseu Frechou visits the walls of Chapada Diamantina, showing the challenges of climbing in the region and the essential equipment for safe practice.

“Chapada is a new and very promising place. A great treasure for opening routes and expanding mountaineering nationwide. The destination attracts me for its immensity of untouched rock and its incredible, still little-explored spots. In this episode, we also went to Itatim, which has taller walls and offers excellent quality climbs. Together with Chapada, it ends up being a must-visit destination,” says Eliseu.

Next episodes premiere this month

The third episode, “Exploring Antonina: Pico Paraná,” will be presented by Guta Barbosa, who will show the crossing and the experience of a trek in the region.

Next, “Exploring the Marins x Itaguaré Crossing,” starring Caíque Fiali, will cover the camping experience as he journeys across the peaks located on the border between São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

The last two episodes will be led by Eliseu Frechou. In “Exploring São Bento do Sapucaí,” he presents his “backyard,” sharing his routine as a climber and resident of the city, as well as the challenges, democratic access, and safety tips for those who want to climb in the region.

In the final episode, “Exploring Dedo de Deus,” Eliseu shows the challenges and standout features of climbing one of the country’s most iconic mountains.

“It’s the cradle of national mountaineering. The climb of Dedo de Deus was first accomplished by a group of Brazilians in 1912. It was the symbol of an unreachable mountain and remains a great challenge, requiring preparation and knowledge,” he explains.

For Eliseu, the web series presents mountain sports in an accessible and inviting way, showing that they can be practiced safely and that you don’t need to be a superhero to experience them.

“The series helps a lot in spreading the word about mountaineering. It does a great job of delivering quality technical information in an inspiring way, motivating people to head to the mountains the right way, using the right equipment.

The experience shared by the athletes and ambassadors also reflects Decathlon’s expertise in the outdoor world through the brands Quechua and Simond, specialized in trekking, camping, climbing, and mountaineering.

“We believe adventure begins long before the trail: in preparation, knowledge, and the confidence to explore new paths. Our goal, both with the series and with the development of our complete product lines, is to share this mountain culture and help more people live outdoor experiences with safety and independence,” comments Jose Etore, Decathlon Brazil’s mountain sports director.
