The latest version of the deuter Compact, as the name suggests, is highly compact, functional, and as lightweight as possible. The design of the shoulder straps and the wide, adjustable hip belt gives the Compact a firm and body-hugging fit with zero load sway on rough trails with descents and tree roots. It maintains a stable center of gravity and distributes the load evenly, which means you can keep your full focus on the trail. A chest strap with a buckle that can be operated with one hand provides additional support.

Despite its snug, body-hugging fit, ventilation is effective and prevents sweat buildup on your back. The Airstripes back system has also been optimized for weight. The lighter materials offer an improved comfort-to-weight ratio, reducing strain on your back during both fast descents and long days on the bike.

When it comes to features and organization, the Compact turns out to be a great choice. It includes a helmet holder that fits both full-face and standard helmets, as well as straps for securing protective gear. The deuter Compact is available in two volumes: 12 liters (SL model, for women) and 14 liters. Both models have an expansion zipper that adds 3 more liters of extra volume, which means this backpack can also be used for longer rides with more gear. Internally, there’s a dedicated compartment for a hydration reservoir of up to 3 liters. And to ensure everything you need is within easy reach, it has a tool compartment, two hip belt pockets, and two elastic side mesh pockets. A phone pocket, compression straps, and an integrated rain cover complete this compact and efficient mountain biking backpack.
