Gear Tips is among the finalists of the Mountain Protection Award 2025, promoted by the UIAA (International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation). The award recognizes projects focused on sustainability and tackling climate change.
Fulfilling our commitment to initiatives aimed at a more sustainable future, we are competing with the CAPACITAR Program, which highlights the Leave No Trace course. This training, focused on minimal environmental impact, has already certified more than 250 people – including guides, instructors, and conservation unit agents working in national parks such as Tijuca, Serra dos Órgãos, Chapada dos Veadeiros, and Diamantina, as well as natural areas like Serra do Papagaio, Serra da Mantiqueira, among others.
“The program follows a very inspiring vision, and its objectives of expansion and connection with other people – having a love for the mountains as the driving force for significant and lasting change – resonate deeply with the values of the Mountain Protection Award. It is an extremely well-planned and executed project, with a proven track record of success and strong ties to the mountain sports community in Brazil,” commented one of the Mountain Protection Award 2025 evaluators on the UIAA website.
The grand prize winner will be announced in October 2025.
This program is supported by the Confederação Brasileira de Montanhismo e Escalada (CBME) and has been designated as a Gold Standard Program by Leave No Trace.
