Gear Tips and Instituto Semeia together to spread the principles of Leave No Trace

The mission of the Instituto Semeia is very clear and noble: to ensure that all Brazilians visit the country’s parks and feel proud of them. To achieve this, the institution supports initiatives capable of transforming the potential of Brazil’s environmental heritage into concrete benefits for nature conservation and for society – among them, the Programa CAPACITAR, by Gear Tips.

According to Renata Mendes, executive director of Instituto Semeia, visits to national and state parks currently total 16 million per year, with the potential to reach 56 million visitors. To promote sustainable and conscious growth among people interested in connecting with nature, spreading knowledge about minimum environmental impact is essential.

Instituto Semeia parceria com Gear Tips para disseminar o mínimo impacto

The partnership between Gear Tips and Instituto Semeia came at a very strategic and decisive moment. We have the responsibility to promote and democratize the principles of Leave No Trace so that all visitors know how to generate minimum environmental impact. This is the time to integrate the principles with governments, management bodies, private stakeholders, and the general public. We want to spread them through meetings, in-person forums, and social media, working together.

For Pedro Lacaz Amaral, founder of Gear Tips, the partnership reinforces the company’s mission to promote transformative experiences in nature through education. “Instituto Semeia plays a fundamental role in connecting people with Brazilian parks, places where we are increasingly present with Programa CAPACITAR and with the principles of Leave No Trace. Our synergy and alignment of purpose create a promising scenario to encourage more enthusiasts to be in nature and keep our spaces preserved.

In addition to joint communication efforts and collaboration on projects and initiatives focused on environmental education, Instituto Semeia will also support Gear Tips at the 5th Edition of the Jornada Cultural e Científica de Montanhismo. The event will take place from October 30 to November 2, 2026, in Lídice, in Rio Claro (RJ). “We consider this space extremely important for addressing the principles of Leave No Trace,” Renata comments.

The partnership between Gear Tips and Instituto Semeia represents a consistent path toward the democratization of national and state parks, which belong to all Brazilians and should be enjoyed in a conscious, enjoyable, and respectful way.
